Le Bubu Pets Turns 2: How Two Bichon Frises Started a Nationwide Search for Honest Pet Products
Share
A Search That Started With Two Bichon Frises
Every brand has an origin story, but ours didn't start in a boardroom. It started with two Bichon Frises named Skye and Binu, and a very frustrated pet parent who couldn't find products she actually trusted.
Like a lot of Filipino pet owners, our founder spent months reading labels, comparing reviews, and testing product after product for Skye and Binu, only to keep running into the same wall: ingredient lists full of words no one could pronounce, results that were impossible to verify, and big marketing promises that didn't hold up once you actually tried the product. And even when something did work, it was often a one-off import that vanished from the shelves a month later, leaving her back at square one. She had a hunch that other Filipino pet parents were going through the exact same thing, quietly settling for products they didn't fully trust because nothing better was consistently available.
That frustration is the entire reason Le Bubu Pets exists. Somebody needed to do the legwork of finding genuinely honest, effective pet products and make sure they stayed on Philippine shelves for good, not just for one lucky restock. So she decided to be that somebody.
Why We Waited to Launch
The idea for Le Bubu Pets came together in August 2024, and by most standards, we were ready to launch almost immediately. But Ghost Month was approaching, and in the Philippines, that's a period many business owners deliberately avoid starting something new. So instead of rushing, we waited it out. Le Bubu Pets officially opened its doors on September 15, 2024, once Ghost Month had passed.
That patience turned out to be a fitting first lesson for the brand: we'd rather wait and do things right than move fast and cut corners. Two years later, on September 15, 2026, we marked our second anniversary, and it felt like the right moment to finally tell this story properly.
What "Le Bubu" Actually Means
If you've ever wondered about the name, here's the answer: "Le Bubu" means "The Baby." It's not a random branding choice. It reflects exactly how we think about the pets we shop for, and the pets our customers shop for too.
Skye and Binu, our founder's two Bichon Frises, have been "babies" since day one. A Yorkie named Max later joined the family, and between the three of them, our team calls their pets collectively "our Bubus" — small, precious, and worth every bit of care we can give them. If you've spotted "Intern Max" popping up in some of our pop-up content, that's the same Max. He's technically part of the team now.
That's also the lens every product on lebubupets.com gets viewed through. Before anything earns shelf space, we ask ourselves one simple question: would we actually use this on Skye, Binu, and Max? If the honest answer is anything less than yes, it doesn't come in.
The Thailand Discovery
Once we committed to actually solving this problem instead of just complaining about it, we went looking for brands doing pet care differently. That search led us to Thailand.
What stood out about Thai pet brands wasn't marketing polish. It was substance: transparent ingredient lists, formulations that were clearly thought through rather than thrown together, and products that did what they claimed to do. Before we brought a single one of these brands home, we tested them ourselves, on our own Bubus. We wanted to see the difference with our own eyes before asking any other Filipino pet parent to trust it.
Once we saw that difference, the direction of the business became obvious. We weren't just going to sell pet products. We were going to be the bridge that brought genuinely well-made, Thailand-sourced pet care to Philippine pet parents who'd been just as frustrated as we were, and we were going to do it consistently, not as a one-time import run.
That's still the filter every brand goes through today, whether it's a hypoallergenic treat line like Hoya Barkery, a dermatologically tested skin care spray like Pawrapy, or a plant-based treat brand like Holy's. Ingredients, sourcing, formulation, and real-world results all get reviewed before anything makes it onto our shelves. We'd rather carry twenty brands we can vouch for completely than two hundred we can't.
Where It All Happens: The Le Bubu Studio
Two years in, home base is still refreshingly unglamorous: a 16 sqm studio that doubles as our stockroom, showroom, and packing space, all in one. It's small on purpose. Every square foot is used, and nothing sits around as decoration.
Pet parents and resellers are welcome to visit by appointment. If you'd like to see where your orders actually get packed, meet the team, or talk through a bulk order for your own store, you can book a visit here: schedule a studio visit.
Two Years Later
Looking back, the version of Le Bubu Pets that exists today is really just a scaled-up version of that first frustrated search for something trustworthy. We've grown a lot since September 2024, but the underlying question hasn't changed: would we put this on our own pets? That's still the only approval process that matters here.
If you're new to Le Bubu Pets and not sure where to start, our Shop by Concern page is built exactly for that. Instead of hunting through every collection, you can browse by what your pet actually needs, whether that's sensitive skin, a picky appetite, dental care, or support for a senior pet.
And if you ever have a question about any product, a customization request, or just want a second opinion before you order, our team is genuinely happy to help. You can reach us on Viber at 0976 139 2468 or by email at hello@lebubupets.com. No pressure, no script, just pet parents talking to other pet parents.
We're pet parents too. We get it. Here's to the next year of Le Bubu Pets, and to every Skye, Binu, and Max out there who deserves products their humans can actually trust.
