We had a genuinely exciting moment this month: GCash reached out to feature Le Bubu Pets in the official launch content for PocketPay, their newest tap-to-pay feature built specifically for small and medium businesses in the Philippines. GCash's PocketPay campaign highlights small business owners across the Philippines who are finding smarter, simpler ways to accept payment without investing in expensive point-of-sale hardware. Our team sat down for a dedicated feature shoot with the GCash content team, walking through how a small, home-grown pet brand like ours can accept card and QR payments using nothing more than a phone. It's a nice bit of recognition, and an easy story to tell, because better checkout technology for small merchants is something we're genuinely glad to be an early adopter of.

What Is GCash PocketPay?

PocketPay is a feature inside the GCash for Business app that turns an NFC-enabled Android phone into a full point-of-sale terminal. Instead of buying a separate card reader, a merchant can accept both QR payments and tap-to-pay card payments directly through their own phone, with no separate hardware required. According to GCash, applying requires no additional paperwork beyond a verified GCash account, which is part of what made it realistic for a small operation like ours to adopt quickly. G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), the entity behind GCash, is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
